The distance is a guess-timate…not sure really. It was at least 20 miles…7+ hours walking around the historic parts of St Petersburg including up hundreds of stairs into Cathedral roofs, over several bridges…etc…etc.

Among other things we walked through:

Winter Palace
Nevsky Prospect
Into/up St Isaacs Cathedral
Peter and Paul Fortress
past the SUmmer Garden
Kazan Cathedral (during Russian orthodox service)
Voskresenia Khristova Church
past the Russian Museum (closed today)
past Circus and Moscow Station
…universities
…societies
…etc

A very cool walk!

The positive effects of the walk have since been nulified by food, wine and Vodka!

Today wasn’t a good one for cycling…wind in the 30s and gusting over 50!

So, I did some (more) flexibility work and took the dog, and 4 year old, for a pretty brisk walk around part of the local golf course.

The wind seems to have abated a lot and I should be able to crank out some bike miles tomorrow.

Blew a tire right about 5 miles into the ride.  Ended up walking the last 3.5 or so…knocked my average speed down a bit.

It also showed that bike shoes are for bikes, not walking!

Well, the wind blew and the power went out.  That’s something that goes hand in hand round these here parts.  The power system is a joke!

I decided to drive the truck to work today, since the forecast was 40mph wind gusting 60…not much fun on a bike.  Power went out at about 4pm so I headed home.  When I got home it was pretty obvious a tree in the lot next to us was on its last legs so I parked down the road a bit.  Said tree landed in our driveway about 15 minutes later!

After a romantic candlelit dinner (!) I took the puppy out for a mile and a half walk/carry along with the kids.  That’s a long walk for puppy…see below for the results:
